Question 1

What is a building alert on CitySeek?

Accepted Answer

A building alert is a notice from property management about something renters should know before signing a lease sight unseen — construction, amenity closures, or similar disruptions currently affecting the building. CitySeek surfaces these so you can factor them into your decision before you apply or sign.

Question 2

Should I still tour or apply to a building with an active alert?

Accepted Answer

Often, yes — many alerts (like a temporary pool closure) don't affect every unit or every renter's priorities. Use the alert as a starting point for questions, not an automatic disqualifier: ask the listing agent or property management exactly which units and amenities are affected and for how long.

Question 3

How often are building alerts updated?

Accepted Answer

Property management submits and updates alerts as conditions change, and each alert shown here displays when it was last updated. Because timelines can shift, always confirm the current status directly with the listing agent or property management before signing a lease.

Question 4

Does an active alert affect my lease terms or rent?

Accepted Answer

Not automatically — an alert is informational, not a rent adjustment or lease amendment. If a disruption affects your unit or a promised amenity, ask property management whether they're offering a concession, and get anything they agree to in writing as part of your lease.

Question 5

What should I ask property management before signing?

Accepted Answer

Ask which specific units or floors are affected, the expected start and end dates, whether any promised amenities will be unavailable at move-in, and whether the timeline has changed since the alert was posted. Get the answers in writing when possible, especially if you're leasing sight unseen.
